Energy-Efficient Cooperative Spectrum Sensing With a Logical Multi-Bit Combination Rule

We propose an energy-efficient cooperative spectrum sensing scheme to reduce the power consumption of secondary users while maintaining the sensing accuracy, where censored thresholds combined with the logical multi-bit combination rule are used. Secondary users simultaneously send 1-b sensing results to a fusion center via common reporting time slots instead of sending multi-bit quantization information, where the remaining quantization information is embedded in the design of the reporting time slot. Hence, the propose scheme achieves multi-bit reporting with 1-b transmission, which results in an increase of the energy efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly increases the energy efficiency in comparison with the conventional schemes, respectively, based on the OR rule, the n-out-of-K rule, and the multi-bit combination rule.
