중소기업 혁신성과 결정요인에 대한 메타분석 : 내부역량과 외부환경 요인을 중심으로

This study conducted a meta-analysis to integrate factors related to innovation performance in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and to examine their relative importance. A total of 57 studies published in Korean academic journals between January 2000 and February 2025 were analyzed, yielding 376 effect sizes.The results are as follows. First, the overall effect size was at a moderate level. Second, among the factor groups, organizational capability showed the strongest association, followed by individual/leader factors, innovation activities, external environment, and firm characteristics. Third, in terms of performance types, product innovation showed the strongest association, followed by non-financial performance, process innovation, and financial performance. Fourth, at the variable level, product development and operational capability, innovative behavior, absorptive capacity, and technological/innovation capability showed relatively high effect sizes.These findings suggest that SME innovation performance is more closely associated with internal organizational capabilities than with external environmental conditions. This study contributes by integrating determinants of innovation performance and providing practical implications for SME strategies and policies.
