Geometric optimization of ionic current rectification in bipolar nanochannel network membrane

This paper proposed a bipolar nanofluidic ionic diode composed of anion-selective nanochannel networks membrane (AE-NCNM) and cation-selective nanochannel networks membrane (CE-NCNM), which were constructed by self-assembled nanoparticles with different groups in microchannels. In bipolar ionic diode, AE-NCNM and CE-NCNM has not only asymmetric surface charges, but also asymmetric geometries. The synergetic effect induced enhanced ion concentration polarization phenomena within junction region of bipolar ionic diode, and hence Ionic Current Rectification (ICR) ratio was raised up to nearly 214. © 17CBMS-0001.
