초록
This study classified the coming-out patterns of cisgender LGBQ young adults and examined predicting factors and differences in psychological adaptation. Using data from the 2021 Social Needs of LGBTQIA+ Young Adults survey (n = 1,817), latent class analysis identified three groups: open closet, discreet closet, and repressive closet. Multinomial logistic regression analysis using the open closet as the reference group showed that higher internalized homophobia increased the likelihood of belonging to the discreet or repressive closet, whereas higher community connectedness increased the likelihood of belonging to the open closet. MANOVA revealed significant differences in psychological adjustment. Life satisfaction was higher in the open and discreet closets than in the repressive closet, and depression was higher in the repressive closet than in the discreet closet. These findings indicate that coming-out patterns are closely tied to psychosocial resources, underscoring the need to understand the underlying factors shaping coming-out experiences and to develop tailored support for LGBQ young adults.
