부모의 온라인미디어 사용시간이 청소년 인터넷게임 시간에 미치는 영향: 부모의 사회경제적 지위 조절효과를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of parents’ online media usage time on youth Internet game time, and to verify the moderating effect of parents’ social-economic status (parent’s education level, gross household income) in relation to parents’ online media usage time. The analysis used the Statistics Korea’s “2019 Life Time Survey” and surveyed 1,686 household responses with teenagers aged 13 to 18 living with both parents and attending middle and high schools. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, the online media usage time of each father and mother had a positive effect on the Internet game time of teenagers. Second, in the father model, the total household income during the week was modulating effect, and in the mother model, the mother’s education level during the week was modulating effect. In other words, the Internet game time of adolescents showed that their mother’s personal factors had a greater impact than their father’s, such as her level of education and whether she worked or not. Based on the results of this study, various policy measures for preventing and countermeasures against Internet game addiction among teenagers were discussed.
