Novice Counselors' Perceptions of Routine Outcome Monitoring: A Modified Consensual Qualitative Research Study

초록

This study explored novice counselors’ perceptions of Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROM) and its implications for implementation in the Korean counseling context. After receiving an overview of ROM, 74 novice counselors completed an open-ended questionnaire about their perceptions of its use. The collected data were analyzed using Consensual Qualitative Research–Modified (CQR-M). The analysis identified two domains—benefits and concerns—with eight and seven categories, respectively. Novice counselors perceived ROM as a useful tool for understanding and adjusting the counseling process, while also anticipating psychological and practical challenges associated with its implementation. Based on these findings, the study discusses implications for ROM training and implementation in the Korean counseling context.
