3D Modeling Toolbar UX Comparison: Blender 4.4 and 3ds Max 2025

초록

This study analyzes the influence of toolbar design of Blender 4.4 and 3ds Max 2025 on user experience in real-production environments. We collected 80 user feedback statements from online communities, including Blender Artists, Autodesk Forum, and ScriptSpot, between April 2024 and April 2025, and cross-checked them with the researcher’s hands-on experience. Quantitative analysis showed that 3ds Max received 77.5% negative evaluations due to the complexity of its ribbon menu structure, while Blender’s negative rate was lower at 65.0%. 3ds Max users most often reported hotkey system conflicts (32.3%) and User Interface (UI) performance degradation (25.8%) as critical issues. Blender users mainly complained about the increased extra clicks (26.9%) and dispersed tool locations (23.1%). Unity/Unreal pipeline tests showed that Blender’s FBX export was relatively stable, but its non-standard shortcut system imposed a burden during learning and tool transition. This study demonstrates the importance of considering both the interface design and learning curves.
