Complete numerical simulations are performed for bubble growth in water jet impingement on a hot plate. The governing equations for the conservation of mass, momentum and energy are numerically solved in the liquid, vapor and air phases. The liquid-vapor and liquid-air interfaces are tracked by a level-set method which is modified to include the effect of phase change at the liquid-vapor interface. The level-set approach is combined with a non-equilibrium k-epsilon turbulence model. The effects of jet velocity, jet temperature and wall superheat on the bubble growth in water jet and the associated flow and heat transfer are quantified.
