기후변화 관련 개인의 의무에 대한 칸트윤리적 정당화

초록

This study explores ways to justify individual moral duties regarding climate change. Climate change is a problem caused by human actions and a collective action problem resulting from the temporal and spatial accumulation of countless actions by unorganized individuals. Therefore, a collective response is essential for resolving the climate change issue. There is much discussion regarding the duty to participate in collective responses concerning climate change, and such a duty is generally advocated. However, considering the current situation, it is deemed necessary to clarify the individual's duty as a consumer who contributes negatively to the climate change problem, in addition to the duty of collective action. This paper reviews studies that argue that each individual has a moral duty regarding climate change as a moral agent, focusing specifically on those that seek grounds for this in Kant's moral philosophy. These studies aim to establish theoretical grounds in concepts found in Kant's moral philosophy, such as universal legislation, human teleology, perfect duty, and imperfect duty. This paper argues that theoretical exploration using the concept of complete duty has not been successful, and will reveal that the way to justly define individuals' moral obligations regarding climate change lies in the appropriate interpretation of the concept of incomplete duty.
