‘시간성’과 ‘변화’ 개념 중심의 통합사회 재구조화 방안 -산업 혁명을 중심으로-

초록

This study begins from the concern that the “integrative thinking” claimed by Integrated Social Studies in South Korea needs to be examined in terms of whether it is substantively enacted across curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Existing Integrated Social Studies scholarship has tended to address integrative thinking largely through disciplinary lenses, which has limited critical scrutiny of how Integrated Social Studies actually realises the cultivation of integrative thinking in classroom practice and evaluative regimes. Using the Industrial Revolution as a focal case, this study proposes a restructuring of Integrated Social Studies learning content centred on ‘time’ and the second-order concept of ‘Continuity and Change’. The study reconfigures the unit so that students inquire into how past experiences are connected to present and future possibilities through a temporal lens, and analyse social transformation and human responses by mobilising ‘Continuity and Change’ as an organising historical concept. Educationally, the proposed approach provides a basis for reflecting on the continuities through which experiences of development during the Industrial Revolution are rearticulated in contemporary discourses on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and ecological and environmental consciousness.
