‘완전’의 문법 기능의 확장에 대하여

초록

This study aims to research an extension of grammatical function of Wanjeon(완전). It has been known that the word class of Wanjeon is a noun. However Wnajeon is used to an adverb besides a noun in modern Korean, especially in the spoken language. This means that the word class of Wanjeon was extended to an adverb from a noun. Wanjeon means ‘extreme degree’ as an adverb. The grammatical function of Wanjeon was extended step by step in both a meaning and a word class. First, the nouns modified by Wanjeon were extended to adjectival nouns, and consequently Wanjeon got to mean ‘extreme degree’. Second, the word classes modified by Wanjeon were extended to adjectives, and consequently Wanjeon got to have a grammatical status as an adverb. In addition, the elements modified by Wanjeon were extended to verbs and sentences.
