‘세계관 해석’에 기반한 ‘3단계 초월 기법’의 인간관계 사례연구

초록

This paper conducts a case study of philosophical counseling based on Karl Jaspers’ concept of “worldview” and Ran Lahav's “worldview interpretation” as its theoretical foundations. Jaspers’ notion of worldview refers to the “life of the mind” through which human beings interpret the world and their own existence and assign meaning to them; it is not fixed but unfolds dynamically as a practical form that moves beyond predetermined self-limitations toward transcendence. Lahav's worldview interpretation, described as a “magnifying glass of everyday life,” interprets the recurring concepts, patterns, and forces in a client's life that generate suffering as structures of “boundary” and presents “self-transformation” as the process through which these boundaries can be transcended. In clarifying the philosophical relationship between Jaspers and Lahav, this paper argues that Jaspers’ oppositional pair of “limit-situation–transcendence” and Lahav's oppositional pair of “boundary–self-transformation” reveal an identical structure inherent in their respective modes of thought. Accordingly, the existential structure of limit-situation–transcendence articulated by Jaspers can be interpreted as being concretized into a practical method of philosophical counseling through Lahav's process of boundary–self-transformation. On the basis of this theoretical correspondence, the present case study applies the “Three-Step Transcendental Method”-designed to understand and help clients transcend the firmly established boundaries of thought formed through emotion, reason, and spirituality-in order to interpret the client's worldview. Worldview interpretation is a distinctive therapeutic approach of philosophical counseling that interprets the client's life within a philosophical perspective, enabling the client to become aware of a fixed worldview and to construct a new horizon of meaning. Through a case analysis conducted on this theoretical foundation, this paper demonstrates that worldview interpretation possesses a therapeutic effectiveness in revealing the client's boundaries and enabling existential transformation.
