초록

In Korean, there are multiple cleft constructions in which two or more constituents appear in the pivot position. Like single cleft constructions, multiple cleft constructions also take on the syntactic structure of copula constructions and the pivot position is characterized by a non-labeled construction. This non-labeled construction appears elsewhere and does not contribute to computation and interpretation. The characteristics of multiple cleft constructions can be explained based on the fact that non-labeled constructions do not contribute to computation and interpretation and that the pleonastic noun “geot (것)” and the copula “i- (이-)” play a core role in the formation of the syntactic structure of the cleft constructions.
