초록
This paper identifies the sense of loss experienced by suicide survivors and proposes philosophical counseling approaches to support them. As South Korea maintains the highest suicide rate among OECD nations, the number of suicide survivors increases annually. Since current systems focus primarily on suicide prevention, counseling support for the bereaved remains inadequate. To address this gap, this study examines the "double loss” experienced by suicide survivors—firstly from the loss of a family member, and secondly from the taboo and stigma surrounding suicide. In response, the paper seeks solutions in Søren Kierkegaard’s Fear and Trembling. In this work, he delineates the "movement of inwardness” through which one attains true selfhood via Abraham’s paradoxical "double movement of infinite resignation and faith"—the state of resigning oneself to the loss of a son while simultaneously believing that "God will return him.” The paper proceeds by first elucidating the movement of inwardness within the broader context of Kierkegaard’s thought, clarifying how this movement is performed through a detailed reading of Fear and Trembling, and finally suggesting practical measures to apply these insights to counseling for suicide survivors.
