초록

I follow Curat(1999) and others, in supposing a French referential noun comes with a visible determiner unless it is in direct contact with its referent in disourse or the determiner is phonetically deleted (but remains in an invisible form). As a consequence, then, in a French genitive construction ‘N1 de N2’, N2, coming with no visible determiner, should be either non-referential or with an invisible determiner. I examine various cases of N2 without a visible determiner in the French genitive and compare them with the Korean genitive ‘N2(-uy) N1’. Showing that the Korean genitive marker ‘uy’ is incompatible with non-referential noun, I conclude it should be analized as the amalgamed form of D and K, its two basic features being related with ‘reference’ and ‘case’.
