초록

The aim of this paper is to clarify the limits of the principle of lexical integrity and to propose the alternatives to overcome these limits. The main phenomena which cast doubt on the lexical integrity principle are as follows: root separation and the scope interpretation of delimiter, the passivization of serial verbs, and the repetition constructions. Adopting the position which says that a root and an affix are syntactically heads rather than pre-syntactic materials forming words whose structure is invisible to syntax, above mentioned phenomena can be explained systematically. In broad sense, this position means that words can be built syntactically, or words and phrases are formed in one component and by the same way.
