We consider the plane Couette flow v(0) = (x(n), 0,...,0) in the infinite layer domain Omega = Rn-1 x (-1, 1), where n >= 2 is an integer. The exponential stability of v(0) in L-n is shown under the condition that the initial perturbation is periodic in (x(1),....,x(n-1)) and sufficiently small in the L-n-norm. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd.
