초록

Contemporary communication has shifted from simple information exchange to a multilayered process shaped by emotions, relationships, and context. These changes show that the quality of expression is deeply related not only to verbal description but also to the inner process of emotion and context. To address the limited attention given to these inner processes within Communicative Competence research, this study proposes Communicative Sensitivity as a framework for explaining how competent communication is internally generated. Communicative Sensitivity refers to the capacity to perceive emotional and sociocultural cues, interpret them empathically, and regulate responses to foster positive interactional experiences. It is conceptualized as a three-stage model: Perception, Understanding & Interpretation, and Regulation & Expression. Rather than replacing Communicative Competence, Communicative Sensitivity offers the emotional and contextual grounding necessary for competence to operate effectively. The study concludes by outlining its educational significance, broader scholarly contribution, and practical implications for future communication research.
