초록

We study the characteristics of airflow and sound noise induced by disk rotation in digital versatile disk-ROM drives. Airflow around the rotating optical disk is numerically investigated by using a finite-element model. The sound pressure and intensity in the drives are measured, and the effect of airflow on the sound noise is discussed. For the reduction of the airflow-induced noise and disk vibration, design modifications such as the tray geometry and window size are considered. Both numerical and experimental results shaw that modified drive models improve the characteristics of the airflow-induced sound level.
