온라인 교량적 사회자본이 확증편향과 음모론적 사고를 통해 사회적불신에 미치는 영향: 온라인 커뮤니티 이용경험자를 대상으로

Drawing on the two-component socio-epistemic model (Pierre, 2020), this study examined how online bridging social capital formed through online community use relates to cognitive processes that reinforce preexisting beliefs. An online survey was conducted with 300 adults who had used an online community within the past year. Structural equation modeling tested the direct effects, and indirect effects were estimated using phantom variables with bootstrapping. Online bridging social capital positively predicted confirmation bias (β = .46, p < .001), confirmation bias positively predicted conspiratorial thinking (β = .31, p = .001), and conspiratorial thinking positively predicted social distrust (β = .57, p < .001). The serial indirect effect through both mediators was significant (B = .09, 95% CI [.02, .22]). These findings indicate that among online community users, bridging social capital may contribute to social distrust when operating through confirmation bias and conspiratorial thinking.
