In North Korea, the failure of the socialist economic system which was the structural cause, the collapse of the socialist regime in Soviet Union and Eastern European countries, and its effect(the economic crisis of North Korea) made to revive the state-led nationalism. In China, the collapse of the socialist regime, the Taiwanese independent movement, and the US foreign policy to China were the important background of the revival of nationalism which was led by the government and the nation's leading intellectuals. Especially, the critical cause of the revival of nationalism in China was the nation's political, economic, and social crisis resulted by the rapid economic development since the 1978's economic reform.
