A series of polymer hole transport materials, poly[N-(p-diphenylamine)phenyl methacrylamide] (PDPMA), poly[N-(p-methyldiphenylamine)phenyl methacrylamide] (PMDPMA) and poly[N-(p-methoxydiphenylamine)phenyl methacrylamide] (PMoDPMA), were synthesized by radical polymerization and their structural effects on the performance of multilayer EL device were studied. Among them, PMoDPMA showed the lowest oxidation potential (1.11 V) due to its high electron donating property. Thermal stability of PDPMA and its derivatives, and their resistance to oxygen and moisture were much better than organic hole transport material, Electroluminescent devices using them emitted blue light with high brightness of similar to 650 cd/m(2) and showed better stability over long cycles than using low molecular weight hole transport materials. Also, PMoDPMA dramatically lowered the driving voltage of the device to 4 V, which was consistent with oxidation potential measurement.
