Enhancement of flowrate in paper based microdevices using super absorbent polymer integrated pad with crafted channels

This paper focuses on increasing the flow rate in paper-based microdevices using radial shape razorcrafted absorbent pad integrated with super absorbent polymer(sodium polyacrylate (NaPA)). Many researchers have tried finding a way of increasing the flow rate in order to improve the performance and potential of the paper-based microfluidic platform. The presented technique can increase the flow rate in paper based device dramatically using the superior water absorbent ability of NaPA and enhancement of capillary in microgrooved pattern. This methodology is very useful for reducing analysis time and needed sample volume and improving sensitivity in paper-based microdevices. © 15CBMS-0001.
